The Naval Air Station Fallon and the Hawthorne Army Depot are to receive funds from the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act, which was passed by Congress earlier this month.
The $985B bill needs a signature from the Oval Office as the final stamp of approval. The NDAA has authorized $48.3M for the Fallon Range Training Complex modernization. Funds will be used to pay ranchers for their land permits.
The bill also included an additional $45M to accelerate the modernization of facilities that were originally approved in the 2023 NDAA.
Further funding will go toward an arms training range at Hawthorne, which is about 67 miles south of Fallon. In the long run, this will cut down on costs as it’s expensive to move soldiers from one state to another for training purposes. Reportedly, it is approximately $500K for a unit to travel out of the state.
The NDAA will also improve military nutrition at the Creech and Nellis Air Force bases in southern Nevada. The NDAA also supports military members, family members and mineral industries. (Source)
