Awards & Accolades
1. The U.S. Green Building Council awarded Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix Pit Building LEED Silver certification. The mechanical, engineering, plumbing, low voltage, lighting services and environmental services for the project were provided by FEA Consulting Engineers, which facilitated the award.
Groundbreakings
2. Mills Park in Carson City is set to receive six new pickleball courts by Sept. 1. Spanish Springs Construction is handling the roughly $1M project. Surrounding areas will be temporarily closed as the existing tennis courts are demolished and new equipment and separation fencings are installed. Funding sources include the American Rescue Plan Act, Community Development Block Grant, Carson City Quality of Life capital funding, the City’s Capital Improvement Program[EH1] and a Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation donation.
Progress Reports
3. Reno’s first Dave & Buster’s is set to open later this summer at the new Shayden Summit Reno Mall. The more-than-100-game arcade and restaurant will total 22.1KSF on a 0.6-acre site. Initial building permits were filed in late 2023 and approved by mid-2024, with Metcalf Construction starting work in October 2024. The project is valued at $7.1M.
4. PuraVida Senior Living is now under construction. Foresight Housing Partners and partner HopeLink of Southern Nevada broke ground on the project on March 26. The 74-unit project will provide supportive housing options for seniors on fixed and low incomes and is expected to be completed in fall 2026. Units will be single-story and span 14 buildings across 3.89 acres. Funding for the project was provided through HOME MEANS Nevada — American Rescue Plan Act funds, HOME Grants, project-based vouchers from the Southern Nevada Region Housing Authority and contributions from Foresight Housing Partners.
5. Sonoma Park will be closed until April 25 for seasonal maintenance and repairs. During the closure, renovation efforts will include turf renovation and irrigation repairs.
Completions
6. Culinary Health Center, a space designed to serve members of the Culinary Union and their families, opened its third healthcare facility in North Las Vegas. The project’s team consisted of ORG Portfolio Management, Carpenter Sellers Del Gatto Architects, PENTA and OCMI, Inc.
7. Two of three new Aldi locations in Vegas will open later this month. The two locations are at 621 Marks St. and 2106 W. Craig Road. The third location, which is still under construction, is at 7150 S. Rainbow Blvd.
8. Boring Co.’s Vegas Loop expansion continues with the opening of the Encore station, the third stop outside the Las Vegas Convention Center. Only one tunnel is currently operational between Encore and the convention center, but a second is expected to open later this year. Work is also progressing on the University Center Loop, which will connect Paradise Road, UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center, and the Silver Lot at the convention center. Once complete, the system will span 68 miles with 104 stations.
