West Henderson Fieldhouse Approved by Henderson Council

The highly anticipated West Henderson Fieldhouse, an indoor sports and family entertainment complex, moves forward following this week’s City Council approval of the design and construction. Whiting-Turner Contracting Company and Klai Juba Wald Architecture + Interiors were awarded the agreement.

The indoor sports complex was initially introduced for public feedback at the May 21 City Council meeting. It was unanimously approved at the July 2 City Council meeting and will be built behind Chicken N Pickle on Rose St. and Maryland Parkways.

The 160KSF, two-level facility will offer Parks and Recreation programming, youth sports activities, camps and clinics and will feature 30KSF-plus of family entertainment featuring: 

  • Four 84’x50’ basketball courts that can be transitioned to eight volleyball courts;
  • Two 200’ x 100’ synthetic turf fields;
  • Multipurpose event spaces;
  • Child watch space;
  • Laser tag;
  • 24 bowling lanes;
  • Redemption arcade;
  • Outdoor mini golf;
  • Axe throwing;
  • Fitness and group fitness rooms, and
  • Full-service food and beverage.

Henderson residents will be eligible for 20% discounts on all event programming and activities.

Through a public-private partnership with KemperSports, the City can provide residents with an in-demand facility and services without long-term financial impact on residents.

“We are excited to welcome Whiting-Turner and Klai Juba Wald to the project team,” said Steve Goris, KemperSports Senior Vice President. “Their reputation for delivering exceptional design-build projects aligns perfectly with our vision for the West Henderson Fieldhouse. Together, we are creating a facility that will set a new standard for sports and entertainment in the nation.”

Construction is expected to be completed in fall 2026. The total project cost is $70M, with KemperSports contributing $10M. The remaining one-time costs will be funded through the Public Infrastructure Bond Sale, West Henderson Development Fund, and City Municipal Facilities Fund. (Source)
