Groundbreakings
1. Reno Housing Authority and Brinshore Development broke ground May 15 on Hawk View Apartments at 2531 Tripp Dr. in Reno. The project will deliver 199 affordable units for residents earning 20% to 80% of the Area Median Income. The complex is one of three apartments approved to acquire funding from the $238.3M tax-exempt bond the State allocated for nine affordable housing projects.
2. Henderson is breaking ground on the 160KSF West Henderson Fieldhouse, a new indoor sports and entertainment complex near St. Rose and Maryland parkways. The $70M facility is scheduled to open in fall 2026. The project will feature courts, turf fields, party rooms and a family entertainment zone.
3. Work is starting on the Kahle Drive Complete Streets Project in Stateline. The effort will reconstruct the half-mile corridor with stormwater infrastructure, bike lanes, sidewalks, underground utilities and raised road segments to restore wetland function. State and federal government funding is supporting the project. Completion is expected by October 2026.
4. A groundbreaking was held May 5 for the Mesquite Animal Shelter expansion. Designed by Aptus and built by SHF International, the project will add more cages, a medical room and expanded capacity. Construction is expected to take 300 days.

Progress Reports
5. Area15 is expanding its Las Vegas campus by 10 acres. The first openings are scheduled for August and include Universal Horror Unleashed and new food, retail and experiential tenants. The expansion also features a repurposed Boeing 747 as a future dining venue. 50 acres of Area15’s overall 80 acres are still buildable.
6. Work is underway on a nearly $30M improvement project along Mill Street from Yori Avenue to Terminal Way in Reno. $15.3M is allocated for construction, engineering, right-of-way services and right-of-way acquisitions. Improvements include new lanes, traffic signals, sidewalks, bike lanes and drainage upgrades. Q&D Construction expects to finish work on the project by late 2026.
7. NeuroGum is opening a 50KSF distribution and fulfillment facility at 4675 S. Valley View Blvd. in Las Vegas. The company received $63K in state tax abatements and plans to invest $300K in capital equipment over two years.
8. TensorWavewill open a 20KSF global headquarters at Town Square in Las Vegas by fall. The AI cloud computing firm was approved for $210K in state tax abatements and will invest $1M in capital equipment in two years.
9. A topping-off ceremony was held May 9 for the new Vaughn Middle School in Reno. The project remains under construction.

Completions
10. I-15between Hacienda and Harmon Avenues in Las Vegas is returning to five lanes in each direction. The change follows overnight closures this week as NDOT nears completion of the $382M I-15/Tropicana interchange project, which began in 2022. Final paving and striping will continue through summer.
11. Valage Senior Living held a ribbon cutting May 8 for its new $8M facility at 973 Ironwood Dr. in Minden. The community includes 56 assisted living units and 46 memory care units, which are already 80% occupied. Construction of the facility began in spring 2023.
12. Luxe Locker held a grand opening May 1 for its new premium storage facility in Mesquite. The units are managed like condos and range from $161.9K to $235.9K. They are designed for RVs, boats and large-scale hobbies.
