The National Association of Women in Construction Las Vegas chapter is partnering with the Quality Training Centers trade school to introduce a scholarship program. The scholarship will fully fund an individual’s tuition for a 12-week program in HVAC, electrical or refrigeration. The scholarship is worth $8.9K.

Advanced Consulting Solutions Group CEO James Taylor was recognized in Consulting Specifying Engineer’s 40 Under 40 list. Taylor is a co-founder of ACS Group, which was founded in 2020.

K.G. Walters Construction has received the Safe Partner Award from the Safety Consultation and Training Section of the State of Nevada Division of Industrial Relations. The award, presented to a maximum of four employers annually, recognizes organizations that demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace safety through participation in SCATS safety consultations, training and other programs. The Reno-based contractor was recognized for its safety practices on complex infrastructure projects and its collaborative approach to creating safe work environments.

Phil Mannelly has been recognized in the Lawdragon 500 X – The Next Generation, which highlights emerging legal leaders with fewer than 15 years in practice. Mannelly serves as Chair of the Construction Law & Litigation Practice Group at McDonald Carano. He is the only attorney in Nevada and one of seven attorneys nationwide recognized in the construction category. Mannelly also authors Construction Laws and Customs: Nevada, an annual Q&A guide for construction projects published by Practical Law.

Promotions

Josh Nelson has been promoted to President of The Calida Group. Nelson most recently served as CIO and has been with the Las Vegas-based company for more than 10 years after joining as a Development Officer in 2015. In his new role, he will oversee day-to-day operations and investment strategy while working alongside co-founders Eric Cohen and Doug Eisner to guide the company’s continued growth.

Moeses Chavez has been promoted to Assistant Project Manager at Alston Construction. Chavez most recently served as Senior Project Engineer after joining the company as a construction intern in July 2023 and later advancing to Project Engineer. Based in Northern Nevada, Chavez is working on the LCB Office Annex in Carson City and has contributed to TRIC Buildings 2 and 3, Red Rock 136 and 580 South Buildings 3 and 4.

Tennille Pereira has been named the Executive Director of the Forever One Memorial by the Vegas Strong Fund. Pereira will oversee the fundraising, construction, education and outreach of the memorial. She has experience as an attorney.

Dr. Sungman “Simon” Kim has joined the City of West Wendover as City Manager. Prior to his new role, Kim was the Development Services Director for the City of Mesquite. The City of Mesquite is seeking a replacement Development Services Director to oversee city planning, building inspections, business licensing and code enforcement.
