Seasonally adjusted Nevada Construction employment reversed its June losses by adding 700 jobs in July.
The 700 new jobs represent a 0.6% improvement month-over-month. This continues a strong year for the sector, with only March and June reporting losses. Additionally, the beginning of the year saw a 10,000-position upward revision.
Currently, there are 115,800 Construction jobs. This reflects an upward revision of 300 positions in June. The December 2025 report initially listed 101,800 total jobs.
The highest Construction employment total at the end of the year was 142,200 in 2005. In 2006, the total continued to rise to 146,600 before falling to 137,700 by the end of the year.
Construction currently accounts for 7.2% of overall nonfarm jobs in the Silver State, according to nevadaworkforce.com.
In terms of year-over-year data, the sector is up 2,500 positions, a 2.2% improvement.

Non-Seasonally Adjusted Construction Data
Non-seasonally adjusted employment experienced a substantially worse July than its seasonally adjusted counterpart, having shed 300 positions.
This was due to the conflicting growth and decline of its two subcategories: Construction of Buildings and Specialty Trade Contractors. The former, which is also the smaller of the two, lost 400 positions MoM, reflecting a 2.1% decline. The subsector has lost 600 jobs YoY, which is a 3.1% dip.
Construction of Buildings totals 18,900 positions. At one point, the subsector had 26,500 positions. It currently makes up 1.2% of statewide nonfarm jobs.
Specialty Trade Contractors currently has 86,700 positions. Its 200-position MoM gain accounts for a 0.2% improvement. The subsector has had a largely successful year, having added 2,900 positions, which accounts for a 3.5% boost. It makes up 5.4% of overall nonfarm jobs.
Seasonally Adjusted Non-Construction Fields
The closely related Manufacturing sector saw the addition of 200 jobs MoM, bringing its growth rate to 0.3%. The sector currently has 68,500 jobs, a tie for its all-time record.
Like Construction, Manufacturing is also split into two subsectors: Durable Goods and Nondurable Goods. Durable Goods shed 100 positions MoM, lowering its total by 0.2%. The subsector accounts for 45,700 positions, a stone’s throw away from its peak of 46,100. YoY, Durable Goods has lost 100 positions.
Nondurable Goods makes up the remaining 22,800 Manufacturing jobs. The subsector is only 200 positions from its all-time high. It added 300 jobs MoM, or 1.3%, and 200 jobs YoY, or 0.9%.
July was a markedly strong month for the Silver State, with only two sectors (Leisure and Hospitality and Other Services) reporting losses. Leisure and Hospitality, the largest sector in the state, lost 3,000 positions MoM, while Other Services lost 500.
Trade, Transportation and Utilities had the strongest month with the addition of 2,700 jobs. Other notable improvements came to Education and Health Services and Government, which added 1,300 and 1,200 positions, respectively.
Unemployment Metropolitan Statistical Area Data
According to a report by the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation, unemployment throughout the state fell by 0.1% MoM, bringing its total to 5.0%. Additionally, the labor force decreased by 5,077.
The report goes on to say, “The seasonally adjusted total number of nonfarm jobs in Nevada was 1,612,500, representing an increase of 1.1% over the past year and an increase of 4,000 jobs since June 2026.”
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Statistical Area gained 2,300 jobs MoM and 9,900 jobs YoY. The Reno MSA added 900 jobs MoM and 300 jobs YoY. The Carson City MSA was the only major metropolitan area in the state to report losses, having shed 200 jobs MoM. Over the course of the year, Carson City lost 400 jobs.
As of June 2026, Nevada tied Illinois with the fifth-highest unemployment rate in the country. In May, Nevada was tied with Oregon and Washington for third.
