Awards & Accolades

1.

Helix Electric LLC and the Symphony Park Hotel & Conference Center project team received an Engineering News-Record Best Project award in the Specialty Construction category. Helix served as electrical subcontractor on the five-story, 441-room dual-branded AC Hotel and Element development in downtown Las Vegas. Jackson Shaw was the owner and developer; The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company was the general contractor, and Cooper Carry was the lead design firm.

Groundbreakings

Agora Realty has started construction on the third and final phase of Hylo Park, a $375M, 25-acre youth sports, sports tourism and entertainment district within its 73-acre mixed-use development in North Las Vegas. The phase will include a 250KSF multi-sport field house, a 177-key Embassy Suites hotel, outdoor public space, retail, restaurants and family entertainment uses. The field house will also house the 40KSF Game Changers Sports Academy. Completion is expected in late 2027.

More than 70% of contracted work is complete on the $184M Reimagine Boulder Highway project in Henderson. Construction began in August 2024 along a 7.5-mile stretch from Wagonwheel Drive to Tulip Falls Drive and includes roadway reconfiguration, wider sidewalks, protected bike lanes and a center-running bus rapid transit system. Nearly 80KSF of sidewalk, 18KSF of storm drain pipe and more than 100 streetlights have been installed to date. Completion is expected in 2027.

Dominium has begun development of Skyline Flats, a $180M affordable housing project on 59 acres along Dandini Blvd. in north Reno. The 402-unit community will include two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments reserved for households earning 50% to 60% of area median income. Extensive sitework is underway to bring water, sewer and power infrastructure to the hillside property, with vertical construction expected to begin once water service is connected. Metcalf Builders is the general contractor, and completion is targeted for late 2028 or early 2029.

The new Virginia City K-8 School reached a topping-out milestone with completion of the structural steel frame. Lumos & Associates is providing civil site design and structural design as a consultant to H+K Architects and is continuing special inspection and testing during construction. The project is being developed for Storey County School District.

Completions

The City of Las Vegas completed a $20M expansion of the Recuperative Care Center at 1581 N. Main St., nearly doubling capacity to 78 beds. The project adds more space for medical respite services and includes behavioral health transition services on the second floor. Rafael Construction was the general contractor, and EV&A Architects designed the project. The expansion included $11M in state grant funding, and the facility is expected to begin serving patients in early November.

Approximately $11.2M in upgrades have been completed at JohnD Winters Centennial Park, 5400 Heritage Way, in Carson City. Improvements include four synthetic turf fields, new tennis courts, LED field lighting, upgraded restrooms and concessions, drainage and irrigation work, landscaping, fencing and recreational trails. Construction started in October 2025, with the turf fields opening in June. Carson City will mark completion of the improvements with an Oct. 9 ribbon-cutting.
