The Clark County Zoning Commission approved Shopoff Realty Investments’ third request for an Extension of Time for its stalled Dream Las Vegas resort toward the southern end of the Strip.

The hotel-casino was initially proposed by Shopoff Realty Investments and Contour. DLR Group is the architect. McCarthy Building Companies is the general contractor and current property owner. (NVBEX, Nov. 5)

The 4.7-acre property was signed over to McCarthy Building Companies for lack of payment after construction began. The initial proposal consisted of a 20-story casino with 527 rooms.

County staff argued the project should be considered abandoned due to its extended pause. Commissioners voted against staff’s recommendation. Commissioners said, however, that subsequent extensions are unlikely.

The development team has an additional two years to work on the project, otherwise the permits will expire again.
