Groundbreakings
1. NV Energy has begun expanding its Fort Churchill Substation in Lyon County as part of the $4.3B Greenlink West/North transmission initiative. The project includes roughly 700 miles of new 525 kV and 345 kV transmission lines and will connect the Harry Allen Substation in Clark County with Fort Churchill in northern Nevada. When complete, the substation will cover more than 360 acres. Construction includes new intermediate substations in Nye and Esmeralda counties. Work will continue through 2030.
2. Construction is underway to replace two structurally deficient bridges in downtown Reno. Arlington Avenue and Wingfield Park closed May 5 and will remain closed through summer 2026. The $32M project is 66% federally funded, with the remainder coming from local fuel tax revenue. The Regional Transportation Commission is working with the City of Reno to complete the project. River access around Wingfield Park is also prohibited during construction.
3. Redevelopment is in progress at Harveys Lake Tahoe in Stateline, where Caesars Entertainment is investing $160M to modernize the 1.6MSF resort. The project includes upgrades to gaming areas, refreshed interiors and enhancements to both hotel towers. The resort will be rebranded as Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe Hotel & Casino on July 1. Renovations will pause during the summer and resume in the fall, with completion slated for summer 2026.
4. Metcalf Builders has broken ground on a 208KSF expansion of AVK’s manufacturing campus in Minden. Spread across 26 acres, the project includes three new facilities for advanced castings, elastomer production and Orbinox components. The expansion was first announced in March 2023 and is expected to enhance AVK’s manufacturing capacity and supply chain operations in Nevada.
5. Construction is underway for a 157.6KSF Costco at Buffalo Drive and the 215 Beltway in Las Vegas. A $26.3M commercial building permit was issued in March, and crews are currently installing parking-lot light posts and laying the building footprint. A $3.7M permit has also been issued for a fuel canopy. Clark County owns the land, which is leased to a private company that is subleasing it to Costco.
6. Metcalf Builders has broken ground on East Building 6 at Comstock Commerce Center in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center. The 475.9KSF industrial facility is owned by Locus Development and is valued at $24M. Completion is expected by the end of 2025.
7. Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada has broken ground on its new Advocacy & Justice Complex at 801 E. Charleston Blvd. The project replaces a former US Bank and Frontier Savings Bank and is designed by LGA Architecture. The 40KSF facility will house several legal support programs. Completion is expected in September 2026.

Completions
8. Parq on Boulder, a new residential community developed by Morgan Stonehill, is now open and leasing in Henderson. Cushman & Wakefield has been appointed as the exclusive property manager for the community, located at 6741 Boulder Highway. Parq on Boulder offers one-, two- and three-bedroom residences.
9. Simerson Construction has completed 200 feet of restoration on the historic 3.8-mile Sutro Tunnel in Dayton. The work involved stabilizing the tunnel with custom-milled timbers, improving airflow and structural support.
10. Aldi will open its third Las Vegas Valley store on May 15 at 7150 S. Rainbow Blvd. A soft opening is scheduled for May 14. This marks the final location in the grocer’s initial three-store expansion into southern Nevada.
