The Export-Import Bank of the United States sent American Battery Technology Company a letter of interest regarding $900M in financing for the battery producer’s planned lithium mine and refinery in Esmeralda County.
ABTC is working with Black and Veatch to design and construct its lithium hydroxide refinery facility. The building is anticipated to be able to refine 30,000 tons of lithium annually. ABTC recently published a report that found the area is home to one of the largest lithium resources in the country.
ABTC has been developing its own technologies to manufacture lithium-rich claystone into battery grade lithium materials. The development is intended to create a circular supply chain for sustainable domestic battery production.
The letter is not a financial commitment from EXIM, but it is a positive sign for ABTC. (Source)
