Nye County Raises Review Fees

The Nye County Public Works Department announced an increase in public fees will be implemented on July 1.

According to Nye County Public Works Director Tom Bolling, fees subject to an increase are, “… related to plan checks and inspections for site developments, technical studies and subdivisions.”

Bolling went on to say the Nye County Board of County Commissioners initially approved such fees in September 2007. Notably, the originally approved plan had provisions that would allow Nye County to adjust its fees based on inflation.

Despite the provisions, Nye County has kept a flat fee rate since September 2022. Fees are to vary based on the size of the necessary study areas and the number of reviews. Areas with a maximum size of five acres will be subject to a $1,151 fee for the first review.

Reviews for sites ranging from five-to-40 acres will increase to $2,301 for initial reviews. For sites between 40 and 320 acres, the first review will cost $3,837. Sites of between 320 and 2,560 acres will be subject to a $6,138 fee. Finally, anything larger than 2,560 acres will be subject to a $9,208 fee.

Reviews after the initial one will cost between $192 and $1,151. (Source)
