The Vegas Strong Fund announced the Forever One Memorial has reached a new funding milestone and is poised to break ground on Oct. 1.
The memorial is designed by JCJ Architecture. Burke Construction Group is the general contractor. Lifescapes International is the landscape architect, while Thinc Design is the museum & exhibit designer.
Lochsa Engineering is the structural and civil engineer. Bear Label Consulting Engineers is the M/E/P engineer, and Lighting Design Alliance is the lighting consultant.
The fund was created by Clark County officials in 2024. Funds will go toward the creation of a permanent memorial to honor victims of the shooting that occurred on Oct. 1, 2017. In October of last year, funding was at approximately 10% of its goal. (NVBEX; Oct. 4, 2025)
Now, the project has raised more than $22M of its $34M budget. The memorial will contain a plaza and a “remembrance ring” containing 58 lights. Each light represents someone whose life was lost that night. It will also feature a Tower of Light sculpture and several seating areas.
Construction will be carried out in two separate phases. The first will include pavers, parking, walking paths, benches, walls, landscaping and the Remembrance Ring. The Tower of Light, among other attractions, will be included in the second phase.
The Forever One Memorial will be constructed on the site of the shooting, toward the corner of East Reno Avenue and Giles Street in Paradise. MGM Resorts had donated two acres for the memorial in 2021 and contributed $5M for construction.
Clark County provided $10M in funding; the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority provided an additional $5M. The Vegas Golden Knights Foundation provided $1M, and another $1M has been collected via individual donations. For more information or to donate, click here.
The memorial is expected to open on Oct. 1, 2027, the tenth anniversary of the shooting.
