Churchill County Next to Consider Data Center Restrictions
NVBEX Staff
The Churchill County Board of Commissioners held a community workshop on June 17 to discuss potential regulations for data centers.
The workshop was held to give commissioners a better understanding of data centers before official proposals are submitted. The workshop was for discussion only.
The meeting was filled with locals who made comments about noise, revenue, water, power and traffic, among other concerns. Some community members requested a moratorium on data centers until further research is done.
Other members urged caution about denying industrial developments on privately owned land.
Basin and Range Investments LLC recently submitted a zone change for six parcels that will, if all goes to plan, later establish a solar farm and data storage facility. The company has yet to officially apply for a data center, however. (Source: Nevada Appeal)
