
The Las Vegas Convention Center Phase III Renovation earned Engineering News-Record honors for Renovation/Restoration and Excellence in Safety and was named a finalist for Project of the Year. The project team included the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, TVS, KME Architects, Carpenter Sellers Del Gatto Architects, Simpson Coulter Studio, TSK and the AECOM Hunt-The PENTA Building Group joint venture.
Crews completed installation of the second steel roof truss arch at the $2B Athletics’ ballpark on Aug. 18. The next truss will establish the highest point of the 33,000-fan Las Vegas stadium at approximately 290 feet. Work is also progressing on concrete seating risers and areas near the future cable-net glass wall.
The Culinary Health Center opened at the SWC of Tropicana Avenue and Cameron Street in Las Vegas. The Culinary union’s pension fund owns the nearly 10-acre property, and the Culinary Health Fund is the tenant. The two-story, 98.9KSF center is the fourth and final Culinary Health Center in the Las Vegas Valley.
Metcalf Builders Inc. completed the Holiday Inn Express in Sparks. The project team included Dave DeYoung, MacCall Management LLC, FJ Management and IHG Hotels & Resorts.
Circa Resort & Casino completed 49 hotel rooms on the previously unfinished 49th and 50th floors of its hotel tower in downtown Las Vegas. The new platinum floors feature upgraded rooms and suites and are scheduled to open Sept. 1. The expansion is part of Circa’s phased development plan, which left seven hotel floors unfinished when the resort opened in 2020.
