The Reno Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval of a master plan and zoning change for The Boulevard during its Oct. 14 meeting.
The Boulevard is a $350M mixed-use entertainment district anchored by a 6,000-seat soccer stadium. Reno Pro Soccer is the owner and developer. WESTAR Architects is the architect. Holland & Hart is serving as the legal representative. A general contractor has yet to be selected. NVBEX has extensively covered this project.
In addition to the unanimous approval of the zoning and master plan changes, the Planning Commission voted 4-1 in favor of a Conditional Use Permit.
The Boulevard is planned on 27.95 acres. In addition to the soccer stadium, it will feature a 380-room hotel/casino as well as retail and restaurant space in a public plaza.
The soccer stadium will become the home of Reno City FC, a United Soccer League professional soccer team.
The master plan and zoning map amendment will extend a nearby gaming overlay to include the site to make way for the casino.
Reno City Council and the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Agency still need to review and approve the project before any work can begin. As things currently stand, Reno City FC is anticipated to begin playing in 2028. (Source: Reno Gazette-Journal)
