The Clark County Planning Commission recommended approval of the proposed Clark County Animal Resource Center at the NWC of Jones Blvd. and Post Road in Spring Valley.

Clark County is the owner and developer, while The Animal Foundation will operate in the building upon its construction. Tate Snyder Kimsey Architects is the design firm. The Construction Manager at Risk is pending selection. (NVBEX; Aug. 28, 2025)

The primary building will be roughly 38KSF. Plans also call for a 1.4KSF temporary building and a 400SF generator enclosure.

The main building will be 26.5 feet tall and have a metal roof, metal panel cladding and perforated metal screening elements. The kennel area will be made of block construction with an interior insulation system. The building is to be surrounded by parking spaces.

There will be several “zones” for different purposes. There will be a dog area, a cat area, a veterinary space, administrative offices and back-of-house areas. The building will be able to accommodate 192 animals.

Southeast of the building will feature dog runs and a meet-and-greet area. The project is designed to make room for future expansion if deemed necessary.

The project is anticipated to break ground in July 2027, with completion targeted in November 2028. Construction costs are estimated at $22.2M-$23.3M.

The project will next appear before the Board of County Commissioners on Sept. 16 for final action.
