The Strip is to receive a new guitar-shaped hotel and casino at 4455 Paradise Road in place of the Mirage Volcano on the northeast side of the property near Las Vegas Blvd.
The developer, Hard Rock International, acquired The Mirage Hotel & Casino in 2022 for nearly $1.1B. In 2023, Hard Rock unveiled plans for its new building. Hard Rock International, owned by The Seminole Tribe of Florida, entered a long-term lease agreement with VICI Properties Inc., which owns the real estate the casino sits on.
The Mirage Hotel closed on July 17 to allow construction of the project. Mirage originally opened in 1989 and was made to resemble an oasis.
The guitar-shaped building will contain 600 rooms, a 48KSF gaming area and 96KSF of retail space and restaurants at the ground level. The hotel will also feature a pool, spa, fitness center and salon.
Construction will be spread across multiple phases. Phase One focuses on the demolition of the Mirage Volcano to make room for the new hotel. Phase Two includes the excavation of a foundation deep enough to support the 660-foot building. Foundation permits were issued by Clark County on November 4, 2024. Phase Three reportedly will finalize surface improvements and install walkways and landscape architecture that fit the aesthetics of the site.
Klai Juba Wald Architecture + Interiors is serving as the project’s design firm. The firm designed Hard Rock’s original Vegas hotel, which is currently Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. The firm also created Hard Rock’s existing guitar-shaped hotel in Florida. PENTA Building Group is the general contractor on the project.
The hotel/casino is anticipated to open in 2027.
