The Carson City Planning Commission granted an extension for Silver Oak Planned Unit Development. The extension for the multifamily residential project will last until January 25, 2026.
The project is to be located on the SEC of Silver Oak Drive and GS Richards Blvd. Based on the renderings submitted, the Silver Oak Apartments will see a total of more than 150 units across four buildings constructed, along with a 5.7KSF rec center and pool as amenities for residents.
Commissioners previously approved a special use permit in January 2023 but the project has been delayed.
Alta Consulting Ltd., the developer, claimed the delays were due to market conditions and the impact of rate increases. Developers state the development has not changed, and the site improvement plans and architectural plans are 98% ready to build.
The project is anticipated to be ready to develop as early as spring of 2025. One email was sent in opposition to the project attempting to persuade the commission to deny the extension. The detractor was concerned, saying Alta “has not taken sufficient action to construct the project or even submit documents to Carson City for plan check during the allotted time frame.”
The submitted site plan indicates that Monte Vista Consulting designed a preliminary site & utility plan for the 6.2-acre multifamily project. KRI Architecture + Design also provided designs for the building.
The commission reacted positively to the Silver Oak Planned Unit development, even wanting to streamline its permitting process. The extension was unanimously approved. (Source)
