Groundbreakings
1. Harry Reid International Airport has begun working on upgrades. These upgrades include an 890SF gaming and smoking lounge, four new escalators, six new vending machines, the Modelo Cantina and Las Vegas Beer Union. The Modelo Cantina, Las Vegas Beer Union and the vending machines have just been completed and are available to the public. The gaming and smoking lounge is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, and the escalators are expected to be completed by early 2027.
2. Solum Construction announced the beginning of construction on a five-story luxury apartment complex at 126 W. Winter St. in Reno. The new building will utilize concrete podium construction.

3. To fund the construction of a new Justice Center, Douglas County sold two series of bonds on March 18. The first series was sold to RW Baird for $34.5M at an effective rate of 4.5%. The second series was sold to Jefferies for $14M at an effective rate of 3.2%. The money to build the new center, located on Buckeye Road near the Minden Maintenance Yard, is not expected to be in the county coffers until mid-April.
4. The Grand Prix Plaza in Las Vegas will open on May 2 instead of its original March 29 date. Formula 1 has not disclosed the reason for the delay. The Plaza will feature a four-story F1 pit building, virtual racing attractions, in-person go-karting on a nearly 1,700-foot track, various food and beverage options, and a flagship F1 retail store. All permits and plans have been approved except for two related to the karting attraction.
5. A road project by Clark County is nearing completion. It will connect Mountain’s Edge, Southern Highlands, and other areas in the South Las Vegas Valley. The project started in December 2023, with only the bridge at Jones Blvd. and Blue Diamond Road remaining and is expected to finish this summer.
