A special tax district was officially approved by the Clark County Board of County Commissioners for the planned Athletics Ballpark.

Approval created the Clark County Stadium Authority Baseball Custodial Fund. The fund will be used to ensure funding generated on the ballpark site is properly distributed by the Las Vegas Stadium Authority. Revenues from the ballpark are to be kept separate from other County revenues.

The $1.8B A’s stadium is designed by Bjarke Ingels Group, with HNTB serving as the architect of record. The general contractor is a joint venture between Mortenson and McCarthy Building Companies.

The tax district does not encompass the entire 35-acre site the stadium is to share with Bally’s Corp.’s planned resort; it only covers the nine-acre portion where the stadium is to be constructed. As foundational work commenced in April, tax revenues accumulated from the work are currently eligible to be accrued.

Site prep and foundation work have already begun in an effort to expedite the construction process to finish the stadium prior to the 2028 Major League Baseball 2028 season. An official groundbreaking ceremony is expected to occur this month. (Source)
