In an effort to prepare local roads for the influx of traffic stemming from the new Athletics Major League Baseball stadium, officials are looking into realigning the intersection at Reno Street and Giles Avenue.

This roadway and intersection are to serve the stadium and Bally’s Corp. hotel/casino once constructed. Currently, the intersection is curved. Plans include straightening the intersection.

Reno Street will continue to be widened down the stretch, with additional travel lanes and median improvements planned. Once completed, there will be three westbound and two eastbound lanes. A left-turn lane into the ballpark is also to be added.

Plans indicate there are to be three entry lanes into the MLB stadium, as well as five exit lanes. Two of the lanes will go straight onto Giles; two will turn eastbound into Reno Street, and the final point will be a right turn westbound into Reno Street.

Other improvements to the stretch of road include widening the pedestrian walkways and the implementation of a new Regional Transportation Commission bus stop located on the southbound side of Giles Avenue. A pedestrian bridge is also being considered to allow attendees to cross over the Giles and Reno intersection, bypassing traffic.

The improvements stem from a traffic management plan filed with Clark County in October 2024. The A’s are to receive $380M in public funding for the new stadium, $25M of which is set to be used for infrastructure work around the site. (Source)
