
The Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV has received LEED Platinum Certification for the operations and maintenance of its Medical Education Building, the highest level in the U.S. Green Building Council’s rating system. The five-story, 135KSF building in the Las Vegas Medical District was completed in 2022. TSK Architects designed the facility, which previously earned LEED Silver Certification for its design and construction.
The Clark County School District has broken ground on Skye Canyon Elementary School at 8401 N. Shaumber Road in northwest Las Vegas. The 108KSF school will include 53 classrooms and serve up to 850 students. The $92.9M project is expected to open in August 2027.
The first phase of Queensridge Medical Plaza, on Alta Drive east of Hualapai Way in Las Vegas, is underway. Prospect Street Capital broke ground on the project on June 23. The first phase includes two approximately 45KSF, two-story medical office buildings on the 12.2-acre site. Construction is expected to begin next month and be completed in spring 2027.
AngloGold Ashanti has broken ground on a new Community Relations Building in Beatty. The facility will feature mining exhibits, conference rooms and an educational virtual reality mine experience.
The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County has broken ground on the Military Road Capacity and Safety Project in Reno’s North Valleys. The 1.8-mile project will improve safety, increase roadway capacity and enhance connectivity. Lumos & Associates is providing engineering design, surveying, geotechnical services, construction management, inspection and materials testing. Construction is expected to take approximately 18 months.
The 18b Las Vegas Arts District Parking Garage is scheduled to open Sept. 29 on South Casino Center Blvd. in Las Vegas. The $25M, five-story project will provide 500 parking spaces and 10KSF of leasable commercial space. The project was funded by the City of Las Vegas and its redevelopment agency, including $5M from the City’s parking enterprise fund.
A new $18.9M Olympic-sized outdoor pool at the Pavilion Center Pool Complex, 101 S. Pavilion Center Dr., will open June 29. The project also includes a pool equipment building, classroom, restrooms and a lifeguard breakroom. Funding included a $1M donation from the Southern Nevada Sandpipers Swimming Booster Club, a nearly $9M Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act grant and City general funds. The Korte Company served as the general contractor.
Q&D Construction has completed the $15.3M Mill Street Capacity and Improvements Project for the Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County in Reno. The 14-month project added travel lanes, sidewalks, bike lanes, a new roadway connection and a traffic signal at Mill Street and Golden Lane, along with underground utilities.
Douglas County Community Services has completed the Topaz Ranch Estates Community Park Splash Pad at 3939 Carter Dr. in Wellington. The project included site preparation, underground plumbing and drainage infrastructure, interactive water features and a recirculating water system. Funding was provided through room tax revenues, the South County Residential Construction Tax and a $100K contribution from the East Fork Swimming Pool District.
