St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church is nearing the final design of its 13.91-acre school at 3000 Lompa Lane in Carson City.
St. Teresa of Avila RL Prop LLC is the owner and developer. Van Woert Bigotti Architects is the design firm. Lumos & Associates is the civil engineer and project representative. Plenium Builders is the general contractor. (NVBEX: Jan. 27, 2025; March 28)
The developer is also nearing its $25M funding goal for its 50KSF school. According to the project narrative, the school will stand two stories tall with a maximum height of 32 feet.
The first floor will feature all preschool and K-5 classrooms, as well as an assembly area called the “Town Hall.” The second floor will contain the classrooms for sixth-through-eighth-grade students.
Aesthetically, the architectural narrative describes the project by saying, “The school will be utilizing a neutral palette to relate to the St. Teresa of Avila Church, but follow a more modern character. The building utilizes a durable, timeless palette of natural color concrete masonry unit in a running bond pattern.”
Metal panel accents will be used throughout the building to provide a general cohesiveness. Steel accent fins will be integrated at various windows.
The developers behind the project have received approval of a Special Use Permit and zone change to accommodate the school. If everything goes to plan, the school will open in fall 2028.
