Progress Reports

1. Overton Power District has started construction on the Tortoise-to-Gila Line, a 25-mile 138kV transmission project that will run across Mormon Mesa from the Tortoise Substation in Moapa to the Gila Substation near Riverside Bridge. The more than $10M project, underway since July, includes the installation of roughly 200 structures and is expected to take about a year to complete.

Completions

2. The City of Las Vegas cut the ribbon on the new $190M Las Vegas Civic Center at 525 S. Main St. The office development spans an entire city block and includes two buildings, one five-story 177KSF and one four-story 72.2KSF, along with the Carolyn G. Goodman Plaza, which will host community events. The project also includes two future restaurant pads and a 2.4KSF gallery space. CORE Construction served as the contractor, and LGA Architecture collaborated with BNIM as the architect.

3. George Gekakis Inc. held a ribbon-cutting for West Sahara Senior Housing, a $50.5M, 171-unit affordable senior community on Sahara Avenue between Cimarron Road and Buffalo Drive in Las Vegas. The project, which offers one- and two-bedroom units, opened last year but is now being formally celebrated. Financing for the complex included more than $34M in Low-Income Housing Tax Credits.

4. Residence Inn by Marriott Reno South has opened at 13105 S. Virginia Street, adding 128 extended stay rooms to the market. The hotel is owned by the Carano and Pegram families and operated by Azul Hospitality.
