Groundbreakings

1. Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority has broken ground on the Senator Joseph M. Neal Jr. Apartments at Tonopah Avenue and North Fifth Street in North Las Vegas. The $88M public housing complex will deliver 192 units and is being developed by McCormack Baron Salazar. Completion is expected by the end of 2026.

2. Construction began July 30 on the 18b Las Vegas Arts District Parking Garage at 201 E. Utah Ave. The $25M project will deliver a five-story, 500-space garage with 10KSF of retail space and public art. Whiting-Turner is the general contractor, and KGA Architecture is the lead design firm. Funding is provided by the City of Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Redevelopment Agency.

Progress Reports

3. Carson City’s East William Street Complete Streets Project is underway, with work expected through summer 2026. Granite Construction is the contractor on the $22.5M project, which received $9.3M in RAISE grant funding. The effort includes underground utility relocation, updated stormwater infrastructure, water and sewer replacements, new sidewalks and bike lanes, signal upgrades and other pedestrian-focused improvements along East William from Carson Street to the I-580/Highway 50 interchange.

4. Carson City is nearing completion of its first new fire station in 50 years. Located at the east end of Butti Way, Fire Station 55 and Emergency Operations Center are expected to open in four-to-six weeks. CORE West Inc. is the general contractor on the $18M project, which includes $6.3M in federal funding. The 18KSF facility will house fire and emergency operations, as well as IT and dispatch functions.

Completions

5. Greystar has completed Album Union Village, a 55+ active adult apartment community in Henderson. Located at 1100 Wellness Pl., the project offers one- and two-bedroom units ranging from 677SF to 1.2KSF, with rents starting at $1.5K. The community includes an 8KSF clubhouse. A grand opening is scheduled for Aug. 22.

6. The Carson City School District is nearing completion on a series of summer campus upgrades, with all work scheduled to be completed by mid-August. Funded by Bond Funds, the improvements include building renovations, athletic facility upgrades, new HVAC systems, parking lot repairs and interior updates across multiple school sites.
