The Reno City Council voted five-to-two to approve the Lakeridge Golf Course Hotel during an initial hearing in its Jan. 28 meeting. A second hearing will be required.
Duncan Golf Management is the owner and developer. Wood Rodgers, Inc. prepared a conceptual site plan for the project and is serving as the representative. An official architect has yet to be selected.
Project representatives told BEX a general contractor has yet to be selected. The representative said, “Our team anticipates beginning preliminary discussions with potential contractors shortly after the first of the year.” (NVBEX; Nov. 26, 2025)
The developer intends to turn a portion of the open space toward the north end of the existing Lakeridge Golf Course into a boutique resort-style hotel. The hotel is set to have 100 rooms.
If approved, the golf course will continue to operate as usual. The boutique hotel is also planned to contain dining options and other recreational amenities, such as a spa, bar, 15 villas, two pools, several sports courts, a garden and parking.
The meeting contained an extensive public comment period which discussed concerns surrounding traffic on McCarran Blvd., which the Regional Transportation Commission is working toward expanding. Concerns were also raised surrounding neighborhood compatibility, noise and the loss of open space.
During the meeting, Councilmember Meghan Ebert noted a hotel use does not generate nearly as much traffic as a commercial development would. Additionally, she said the vast majority of traffic generated from the hotel would happen outside of rush hour.
Approval comes after the Planning Commission recommended the approval of a related zoning change. That meeting also had extensive public comment.
The project will again appear before Council for the zoning change to be adopted. Then, the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Commission and Regional Governing Board must approve the project prior to construction starting.
Project representatives told BEX the project is likely to break ground sometime between late 2026 and early 2027. Preliminary cost estimates suggest the cost will be around $100M.
Project representatives said they are looking for boutique hoteliers who would be interested in bringing their hotel to the resort.
