The Boring Company recently received a permit from the City of Las Vegas for the construction of the Vegas Loop tunnel in downtown Las Vegas.
The Vegas Loop, in its entirety, will span 68 miles and contain 104 stations. Current timelines suggest the project will finish between 2028 and 2029. Boring Co. serves as the developer, design firm and general contractor.
According to a press release posted by the City, “The first Vegas Loop station in the city will be located just north of The Strat Hotel, Casino & Tower.”
The tunnel system will allow convention-goers to swiftly travel downtown to experience local cuisine and entertainment options. Boring Co. intends to continue to build out the 68-mile loop to increase its accessibility and locations.
Once the Boring Co. finishes the Vegas Loop, it is considering branching out to Henderson and Summerlin. Additionally, the company is eyeing a 440-mile hyperloop chain to connect Reno to Las Vegas.
Las Vegas’ approval comes shortly after the University of Nevada, Las Vegas rejected the prospect of a Vegas Loop station on campus. (NVBEX; Jan. 19)
