Roseman University of Health Sciences is planning to build an 84.3KSF Medical Simulation Building in Summerlin.
Roseman University, the owner and developer, is a private, nonprofit university. Design work is being conducted by Lavallee Brensinger Architects and Carpenter Sellers Del Gatto Architects. PENTA Building Group is the general contractor.
The Medical Simulation Building is the first of Roseman’s three-phase, $500M expansion. This lab is expected to cost between $65M and $70M.
The simulation lab is planned on Discovery Drive near the 215 Beltway and Town Center Drive.
It will feature an entire artificial hospital with an intensive care unit, patient rooms, trauma/labor and delivery suites, and two operating rooms.
Other features include an outpatient objective structured clinical examination center, labs for skills and health assessment, a digital anatomy lab featuring digital dissection/imaging tables, an engineering lab/maker space, resuscitation quality improvement labs and a simulated home environment.
There will also be a multi-station pharmacy with areas for students to work on counseling and community care. The building will accommodate both medical and nursing students.
Other amenities include a rooftop garden/event space, a campus quad and a makeup room for simulated patients.
The simulation lab will have space to accommodate up to 400 medical students, 200 pharmacy students and more than 300 nursing students.
The Clark County Zoning Commission is slated to consider the project during its Aug. 19 meeting. Company officials are planning a “soft groundbreaking” before the end of the year. Current plans suggest a completion date in the spring of 2028.
Once the university finishes its classroom building, it will turn its attention toward a student union, then a parking garage and an auditorium. The entire expansion is expected to spur nearly $1.9B in economic impact by 2032, create 10,624 jobs and provide $37.5M in tax revenue. (Source: VegasBusiness)
