The Carson City School District Board of Trustees discussed the Carson High School Performing Arts Center during its Aug. 25 meeting.

The Carson City School District is the owner and developer. Van Woert Bigotti Architects is the architecture firm.

The executive summary regarding the project says, “The idea of building an auditorium/performing arts center on the campus of Carson High School has been discussed for many years. Two years ago, a committee was formed to begin bringing a more concrete idea of what this might look like.”

The conceptual plan indicates the PAC will be integrated with the campus and high school. It will have multiple performance space options as well as classrooms. The PAC will have independent access to best serve the local community.

Van Woert provided four primary locations on campus that prioritized limiting disruptions and maintaining parking. The presentation indicates roughly 32KSF-35KSF is needed.

The PAC will feature a lobby, faculty offices, box office, theater, stage, concession area, costume shop, performers’ suite, rehearsal space, scene shop, dock area, storage and restrooms.

As the item was for discussion only, no decisions were made.
