Credit: Nevada Appeal

The State of Nevada is to receive more than $33M of Payment in Lieu of Taxes program funding from the Bureau of Land Management.

PILT funding is mainly targeted toward rural counties in Nevada. Funding can be used for various government sources, such as firefighting, law enforcement, road construction and public education. Therefore, funding can be distributed to both services and construction projects to best serve the areas awarded.

Of the more than $33M promised, $3M will be directed toward Churchill County. Lyon County is to receive $2.8M.

The amount of funding awarded is roughly $1M more than it was in the previous year. (Source)
