The Carson City Parks and Recreation Commission is set to consider the JohnD Winters Centennial Park Master Plan during its Oct. 7 meeting.

The project would consist of various park upgrades aimed at improving the residential experience. Lloyd Sports + Engineering is the master land planner.

The master plan currently consists of a lower and upper park connected by a circular trail surrounding a golf course.

Plans for the lower park include three multi-use fields, a play area, two dog parks, a maintenance shop & yard, the storage building, a picnic shelter area, a concession building with restrooms, an additional restroom building and a promenade lane. The park also features parking areas.

Plans for the upper park include plaza improvements with a shade shelter, a new restroom building, tennis court improvements, softball field improvements, windscreen trees, softball field plaza improvements and an expansion of the bike park.

Current estimates call for $44M across the projects that have yet to begin construction. There have been a handful of projects that have already commenced, such as the new artificial turf fields. (NVBEX, Aug. 27)

Funding has not been allocated for the projects. Once the projects are approved, the City of Carson City will pursue grant applications and fundraising efforts. (Source)
