Groundbreakings

1. A ceremonial groundbreaking was held for Campus for Hope on July 17. Construction will officially begin later this year. The $200M project will sit on 20 acres near Charleston and Jones blvds. and provide 900 beds for individuals experiencing homelessness. The facility is modeled after San Antonio’s Haven for Hope. It is expected to open in 2028. The State-led initiative is funded through a public-private partnership, with $100M from the Nevada Legislature and matching private funds.

2. Site work is already complete for the Douglas County Justice Center, but a formal groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Aug. 1 in Minden. The $48M project will deliver a 50.4KSF facility at 1280 Buckeye Road that includes four courtrooms, the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office and space for the court clerks. Construction is expected to begin next month and will be led by CORE Construction, with Tate Snyder Kimsey Architects as the design firm. Funding is provided through the Justice Center Project Fund.

3. On July 16, Life Time broke ground on a new location in Las Vegas, with construction now underway. The $29M, 125.5KSF luxury health club will be at the corner of Durango Drive and Sunset Road, across from Ikea. The three-story facility is expected to open in the second half of 2026.

Progress Reports

4. Construction continues on Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas, one year after replacing The Mirage. The developer, Hard Rock, and its construction partners began work July 18, 2024, and remain on schedule and on budget for a late 2027 opening. The expanded project now includes 675 rooms, a larger pool complex and dual spas.

5. M Resort Spa Casino has completed the first phase of its $206M property-wide renovation and expansion in Henderson. The newly unveiled 92KSF gaming floor includes refreshed table games, flooring upgrades and a relocated bar. Construction continues on a second, 381-room hotel tower and new convention spaces, with full project completion expected in early 2026. Penn Entertainment is the operator.

6. Green Valley Ranch Resort in Henderson has begun a $200M renovation of all 422 rooms and 71 suites. Led by Station Casinos and Avenue Interior Design, work started in June on the West Tower, which will debut its first revamped rooms this fall. Updates to the East Tower, South Lobby and convention areas will follow, with full completion expected in 2026.

7. Locus Development Group is nearing delivery of a 474.9KSF speculative industrial building at Comstock Commerce Center inside Tahoe Reno Industrial Center. Construction, led by Metcalf Builders, went vertical in April and is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter. The facility was designed by Tectonics Design Group, with engineering by Kimley-Horn & Associates, Inc. and grading by Capriati Construction Corp.

Completions

8. Grand Teton Drive Overpass officially opened in northwest Las Vegas, connecting both ends of the roadway over I-11. The $41M project broke ground in April 2024 and was completed two months ahead of schedule.
