The Athletics recently formed a performance agreement with Clark County that outlines what would occur if the baseball stadium does not come to fruition.

The $1.8B stadium is being designed by Bjarke Ingels Group, while HNTB is serving as the architect of record. The general contractor is a joint venture between Mortenson and McCarthy Building Companies. Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing engineering is being conducted by Henderson Engineers. Lochsa Engineering is the civil engineer, and Thornton Tomasetti is serving as the structural engineer. (NVBEX; April 9)

The County Zoning Commission approved the agreement along its routine action items during its Wednesday, May 21 meeting. The agreement stipulates the A’s must submit a security bond of $3.7M to Clark County. This security bond would be used to decommission the stadium if work ceases before its completion.

Decommissioning would involve removing project materials, ensuring structural integrity of constructed portions, ensuring fire hydrants are operable and creating an eight-foot wall around the stadium.

A separate clause of the agreement requires a 5% contingency for up to $185.4K to offset additional decommissioning costs.

Site work has already begun as teams have started grading and drilling the foundation. An official groundbreaking ceremony is to be held in June. A progress update is to be presented during the Las Vegas Stadium Authority meeting on Thursday, just after production deadline.

Construction is expected to end by the 2028 Major League Baseball season. (Source)
