The Boulder City City Council recommended two of three proposals brought forward by the Boulder City Municipal Airport for approval.
If the two plans are to receive all necessary approvals, it will increase the number of hangars at the airport by nearly 150%. Staff has been directed to enter into negotiations with the developers.
The City of Boulder City released a Request for Proposals earlier this year for airport-related developments on a 41-acre area and a three-acre area.
High Flying Hangar proposed a plan that consists of 170 new hangars, a new clubhouse and the necessary taxi lanes. The plan also mentions partnering with a commercial property developer to bring restaurants to the area as it is currently lacking food options. This plan is estimated to cost $50M.
Shadow Air Management proposed three separate buildings, each containing five hangars. The hangars would uniformly be 66’x65’x24’. A 900’x75’ asphalt taxi lane would be installed to connect the new hangars to the existing taxi lane. This proposal was estimated at $6.3M.
The third proposal was brought by John Gustafson. He proposed a restaurant at the corner of the Northwest Land Development Area. While officials did not recommend the proposal for approval, they did encourage Gustafson to partner with High Flying Hangar to develop the restaurant. (Source)
