Boyd Gaming Corporation has opted to demolish its Eastside Cannery property at 5255 Boulder Hwy. in Las Vegas to make way for a housing development.
The 16-story hotel-casino once consisted of 307 hotel rooms and was shuttered five years ago due to the pandemic.
The tower also had a 64KSF casino, a handful of bars and restaurants, a club, a 250-seat entertainment space and a 20KSF ballroom area.
The company had spent more than half a million dollars maintaining the property since the pandemic. This consisted of running utilities and keeping its IT and security systems secure.
The company recently released a statement saying it is nearing the end of its demolition plans and is in the midst of discussions regarding the sale of the property for potential residential purposes.
The move comes as the gaming company has considered the market conditions surrounding the area. The company purchased Eastside Cannery alongside its North Las Vegas counterpart, Cannery, in 2016 for $230M. (Source)
