The Bureau of Land Management issued its approval Dec. 15 for NV Energy’s 13-mile, 120-kilovolt Lazy 5 Transmission Line and Substation project.
BLM cited significant growth in the Spanish Springs area north of Sparks as the driving need for the project, which also includes two new substations. The transmission line would start in Sun Valley, run to the existing Spanish Springs substation and then to the first new substation at Pyramid Highway and Highland Ranch Parkway before ending at the second new substation in Lemmon Valley.
NV Energy is working to finalize additional permitting with local government agencies before starting construction. The company plans to have the line in service by the end of 2028. (Source)
