Giving Back

1. In celebration of Make a Difference Day, Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada enhanced neighborhood homes. More than 100 RTSNV volunteers worked on the enhancement of homes for low-income homeowners. Volunteers cleaned yards, offered xeriscape services and painted homes.
2. Friends of Genoa and the Town of Genoa held a Bingo event to raise funds for work on the Genoa Town Hall. The event also included food and raffles. The Town Board recently received a $100.4K grant from the Commission for Cultural Centers and Historic Preservation to fund improvements.

3. The City of Henderson announced it won three awards from the Nevada Chapter of the American Planning Association. Councilman Jim Seebock won the Elected Official category. The City’s Pumpkin Park project won the Outstanding Individual Project category. Richelle Liston was the recipient of the President’s Award.

4. Gaston Wilkerson and NAI Alliance have announced a merger. The merger comes as Don Wilkerson, president and chief executive officer of Gaston Wilkerson, stepped away from day-to-day duties. The merger adds more than 500KSF to NAI Alliance’s property management portfolio, which now surpasses 8.5MSF of commercial real estate in northern Nevada. (PPL Bill Miles; Nevada News Group) Miles Construction has announced a transition in leadership as Bill Miles has announced his departure from day-to-day duties. Miles has been running his company for more than 38 years. Cary Richardson will now serve as the company’s president, while Jerry Dienes will be managing field operations.

Promotions
6. The Las Vegas City Council unanimously ratified two new department directors. Dina Babsky is the new director of the City’s Department of Economic & Urban Development and Gayle Lloyd-Leakos is the new director of the Finance Department. Babsky joined the City of Las Vegas in 2017 and worked as a strategic initiatives manager supporting the City’s executive leadership team. Lloyd-Leakos has been with the City for 20 years and most recently served as the deputy director of the Finance Department, as well as acting director.

7. MB Contractors, Inc. announced the hiring of Joanne Verrips as VP, General Manager. Verrips will oversee daily operations for all construction activities across various market sectors, while also driving business development and focusing on new and existing client relationships. She has nearly 20 years of experience in the construction industry.
8. SVN | THE EQUITY GROUP announced the hiring of Heather Lambert as Senior Director of Property Management. In her new position, she will oversee the management of the firm’s portfolio. Lambert brings 18 years of experience in career property management.
