The Governor’s Office of Economic Development approved $100M in state funding for the Campus for Hope transitional housing complex in Las Vegas.

The housing complex is designed to resemble the Haven for Hope campus in San Antonio, Texas. The complex is planned on a 26-acre site, which is a part of the Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services campus located at West Charleston and South Jones Blvds.

Buildings on the site will be removed prior to breaking ground on the housing campus. Campus for Hope is intended to open in 2027. The project is still in the design phase, and its capacity has not yet been determined.

The public-private partnership between the State of Nevada and the Campus for Hope Foundation is expected to cost $200M. The funding is possible through the 2023 matching funds program, which allows a state-fund match for housing facilities targeted toward individuals and families at risk of homelessness. Clark County saw a year-over-year increase in homelessness of 20% from January 2023-January 2024.

The Nevada Resort Association stated the industry spent more than a year raising the $100M necessary for the match. The association and its industry partners asserted a desire to support the fight against homelessness in Sin City.

Tenants who take residence on the campus must be referred through nonprofit partners and supportive services. Tenants will stay on the campus for four-to-six months. (Source)
