As the design phase pushes forward for the new Central Reno Fire Station, demolition has begun on the police headquarters that currently occupies the site at 455 E. Second St.

Reno City Council recently dedicated $10M toward demolishing the building and designing the new facility. The demolition will continue into August.

The Reno Police Department moved its operations to 911 Kuenzli Ave. This is the Department’s first new building in 70 years.

The final design and permitting for the fire station is expected to occur next year. Once the design is agreed upon, the City of Reno will work out a final funding plan for the building. Construction is anticipated to begin next year and conclude sometime in 2028. (Source)
