Clark County is finalizing its plans for the $49.5M Airport Connector project, which will add an additional lane between the 215 Beltway and Sunset Road.
The project is owned by Clark County. Las Vegas Paving is the general contractor. Project documents indicate WSP is the design firm.
More specifically, the project aims to increase the lane count from three to four in the area. The new lane will be dedicated to exiting at Sunset Road.
The new lane will be added as a ramp from George Crockett Road to the connector. The new ramp and additional lane will improve safety by streamlining the exit process. Currently, the area is prone to weaving traffic.
Project details also include the realignment of the Airport Connector northbound ramp. The former ramp must be realigned to make way for the new one.
The intersection of Bermuda Road and Arby Avenue currently contains a dip that was designed to assist in drainage. The dip will be removed and smoothed out.
The project also includes the implementation of retaining walls, repaving the northbound connector road, curb and gutter work, traffic signal adjustments, new pavement markings, new signing, street and bridge lighting upgrades and bridge underdeck lighting.
While Clark County has yet to announce an official starting date, it intends to commence construction by the end of the year. Construction is expected to wrap up within 730 days of the initial start date. (Source)
