Groundbreakings
1. Grand Sierra Resort has started construction on a $1B expansion in Reno, its largest to date. The multi-phase project will add a 10,000-seat arena, parking garage and other improvements, with the first phase scheduled to finish in Sept. 2027. A second phase will bring a new hotel tower, workforce housing and upgrades to the property’s lake.
2. In the airport corridor, the Nevada Department of Transportation has begun a $12.9M paving and preservation project on Sunset Road between Las Vegas Blvd. and Annie Oakley Drive. The nearly 3-mile project kicked off Sept. 28. Work includes milling and repaving, lowering utilities, replacing medians and upgrading striping and electrical systems. The project is expected to be completed by spring of 2026.
3. A new temple for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is underway in northwest Las Vegas, where crews have broken ground on the Lone Mountain Nevada Temple. The temple is planned as a three-story building on nearly 20 acres near Hickman Avenue and North Grand Canyon Drive. The project moved forward following Las Vegas City Council approval and resolution of legal challenges.
4. Metcalf Builders has broken ground on a $23M Home2 Suites by Hilton in Sparks. The four-story, 67KSF hotel will feature 91 suites. Construction began in August and is scheduled for completion in Jan. 2027.
5. Travel Nevada has broken ground on the Nevada Adventure Center, an outdoor recreation hub at 100 Nevada Way in Boulder City near Lake Mead. The facility is scheduled to open in fall 2026. A sister center is planned in Carson City, with the two projects totaling $7M, including $3.7M in federal funding and the remainder from the state tourism division.
Completions
6. Lincoln Property Co. has completed Windsor Commerce Park, a 1.6MSF industrial development on 86 acres in Las Vegas. The project includes eight buildings ranging from 49.9KSF to 397.4KSF. Nearly half the space is already leased to regional, national and global operators. Lee & Sakahara was the architect, R&O Construction was the general contractor and CBRE is handling leasing.
