The State of Nevada’s Public Works Division is returning to the Carson City Planning Commission on Dec. 16 to revisit its proposed Office Complex at the SEC of South Stewart and East 5th streets.
The owner is listed as Nevada Department of Administration. TSK Architects is the architect. A general contractor is pending selection. Proposals were due on Nov. 4.
If approved, the complex will include two office buildings and a garage. Each office building will be 64.9KSF and the parking garage will be 155.8KSF. In total, this will account for 285.6KSF of development. (NVBEX; Nov. 20)
The administration buildings will face one another. Between the two buildings, there will be an open space for public use. The project is expected to cost $111M.
The complex is planned on a site zoned Public. It was formerly home to the Children’s Home, which had its remaining buildings demolished recently.
The project initially appeared before the Planning Commission on Nov. 18. After a series of discussions, the applicant requested the proposal’s continuance to the Dec. 16 meeting. The break period has allowed the applicant to consider suggestions made by the Commission, consult with individuals and respond to questions.
A representative of the State Public Works Division said the applicant, “…would not be providing any supplemental information to the Planning Commission,” on Dec. 8 via email.
If the project is approved, it will likely come with a Condition of Approval to create a deceleration lane on Roop Street that must be deemed satisfactory by the City Engineer.
