The Carson City Planning Commission issued a continuance for the Nevada Department of Administration’s proposed office complex in downtown Carson City during its Nov. 18 meeting.
The Nevada Department of Administration is the owner. TSK Architects is the architect, and a general contractor is pending selection.
The office complex consists of two 64.9KSF buildings and a 155.8KSF parking garage. In total, this accounts for 285.6KSF of development. Additionally, the development will bring about 275 surface parking spaces between the buildings and streets.
On Sept. 22, the Administration released a Construction Manager at Risk request for proposals. The CMAR RFP contains a cost estimate pegging the building at $114.5M. Proposals were due on Nov. 4. (NVBEX, Nov. 20)
Commissioners shared concerns surrounding the office complex’s difference from the Carson City Master Plan, which was officially adopted on May 1. The Master Plan specifies the area should be considered urban, while the design has a more suburban feel.
Commissioners also discussed the architectural design of the building, saying it looked too much like Las Vegas and Reno.
The continuance postpones the Special Use Permit hearing until Dec. 16.
