Groundbreakings
1. Western Nevada College is expanding nursing education opportunities in rural Nevada through a major renovation of the Piñon Building on its Fallon campus. Design and permitting are already underway, and construction will begin in January. When complete, the upgraded space will include modern clinical training areas, advanced simulation labs and dedicated study and testing rooms, giving nursing students in Fallon greater access to hands-on learning close to home.
2. The Nevada National Guard has broken ground on the Nevada Army National Guard Qualification Training Range at the Hawthorne Army Depot. The $20M project will deliver a Department of the Army–approved firing range facility consisting of rifle, pistol and machine gun training lanes and seven support buildings.
3. Construction has begun on Village at Adobe Mesa, a 17-unit business center located at Falcon Ridge Pkwy. and Hardy Way in Mesquite. The development will include commercial units ranging from approximately 1.2KSF to 2KSF. Parkway Construction is serving as the general contractor. The project is scheduled for completion in February 2027.
Progress Reports
4. Construction is continuing on Cadence Crossing, a 50KSF casino project in Henderson that will replace Jokers Wild. The development will include a 10KSF casino with 450 slot machines. Boyd Gaming broke ground on the project in April and expects a mid-2026 opening.
5. In-river construction has been completed on the Arlington Avenue bridges replacement project in downtown Reno. Granite Construction has finished work on bridge abutments and the central pier supporting the north span, allowing the Truckee River to flow unimpeded around Wingfield Island. Crews are now focused on completing bridge decking for both the north and south spans. The project includes full replacement of the existing bridges, with additional work continuing above the river.
Completions
6. The Nevada Department of Transportation has reached substantial completion on the I-15 South Widening Project, a $71M infrastructure improvement between Sloan Road and Warm Springs Road. The project widened I-15 to eight general-purpose lanes between Sloan Road and St. Rose Pkwy. and up to 11 general-purpose lanes between St. Rose Pkwy. and Blue Diamond Road. Additional work included restriping, bridge resurfacing, pavement preservation at the Blue Diamond interchange and construction of sound walls. Construction began in January 2024.
7. Construction has been completed on a two-story expansion at Strong Start Academy Elementary School at the Tony Hsieh Education Center, located at 310 S. Ninth St. in Las Vegas. The $6.4M project added 10 classrooms, increasing school capacity to 360 students. Builder’s United served as the general contractor.
8. Renovation work has been completed on the Sunset Tower at the Golden Nugget Lake Tahoe in Stateline. The project included a full remodel of the hotel tower’s guest rooms, with upgrades to building systems and interior finishes. The property is located at 50 Highway 50.
