Carson Valley Health has plans to improve the existing Carson Valley Health Hospital in Gardnerville.
The architect is triARC architecture & design and Martin-Harris Construction is the general contractor. Kimley Horn & Associates is part of the project as well.
According to Carson Valley Health’s website, the hospital is a joint partnership between Barton HealthCare System of South Lake Tahoeand Renown Health of Reno.
Project representatives said the four-phase project will elevate the Gardnerville campus. The campus consists of 90KSF of development: a 57KSF primary hospital and a 33KSF medical office building. Construction costs are estimated at $48M.
The medical center currently consists of 25 licensed patient beds, an emergency department and outpatient/inpatient surgical services.
When asked for comment, the design firm said, “triARC understands the critical role regional health centers play in their communities—and the importance of keeping these facilities modern, efficient and adaptable. The four-phase renovation enhances public, administrative and clinical spaces within the existing hospital and is being carefully designed and executed to ensure the facility remains fully operational throughout construction, minimizing disruption while prioritizing patient experience and long-term functionality.”

As far as the design goes, triARC shared a LinkedIn post that says, “Inspired by the surrounding landscape, we developed a guiding concept that reflects how the mountains support, restore and sustain life.”
The conceptual plans indicate there will be improvements made to the lobby (both the reception/waiting room and second floor), exam rooms, cafeteria and inpatient behavioral health areas.
Project representatives said the submittal process for the project has already begun. The official groundbreaking is expected to occur in April. The project has a three-year timeline.
