Groundbreakings
1. McCarthy Building Companies broke ground Feb. 17 on the 122KSF South A Concourse at Reno Tahoe International Airport. The project marks the first phase of a $650M terminal expansion. Completion of the South A Concourse is expected in 2028, and a second concourse will follow in 2029. In addition, more than $1B in infrastructure work is underway at the airport, including a $67.2M central utilities plant, a 62KSF four-story police and administrative headquarters and a $299M, 440KSF Ground Transportation Center being built by a joint venture between Q&D Construction and Webcor.
Progress Reports
2. Interior reconstruction is underway at the former Poker Palace Casino in North Las Vegas, which Truckee Gaming LLC purchased in October for $20M. The property will reopen as Club Fortune Casino North and include a Boomers Sportsbook, along with a full interior and exterior remodel. Plans call for comprehensive interior and exterior renovations and upgraded gaming and hospitality offerings.
3. Nevada Health & Bioscience Corp. held a topping-out ceremony for its two-story, 34KSF NHBC Academic Laboratory in the Las Vegas Medical District. The $44M project is funded through a $35M State of Nevada ARPA grant and a $9M City of Las Vegas grant. Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is the general contractor. Carpenter Sellers Del Gatto Architects is the architect, and Sletten Construction is serving as the owner’s representative. Completion is expected in late 2026.
4. The City of Henderson marked the steel topping of its 160KSF, two-story West Henderson Fieldhouse, under construction near the corner of St. Rose and Maryland Pkwy. The $70M project broke ground in May 2025 and remains on track for a fall 2026 opening. Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is serving as the general contractor, and Klai Juba Wald Architecture + Interiors is the architect. The facility is being developed through a public-private partnership with KemperSports, which is contributing $10M toward the project.
