Groundbreakings
1. The Culinary Union broke ground on Culinary Health Center – Tropicanaat 4805 W. Tropicana Ave. in Las Vegas. Estimates indicate the project will cost somewhere from $90M-$100M. The 96.8KSF building is expected to open in 2026. This will be the closest health center to the Strip.
2. Construction began on the Centro Marketat 3312 Highway 50 E. in Carson City. SB Builders LLC will be constructing the 23.2KSF grocery store. The project is expected to be completed by fall of this year. The owners, Herbet Muro and Armando Valencia, have invested around $5M in the project.
Progress Reports
3. The Let’s Go Maryland Parkwayroadway project recently installed its first of 44 bus shelters. The bus shelter was installed on Maryland Parkway south of Oakey Blvd. The $378M project has already seen the installation of storm drains, waterlines, sewers and irrigation lines, conduit, curb reconstruction, gutters, sidewalks and driveways.
4. The first set of renovated rooms in the MGM Grandhotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip has opened. The remodel began last month and will continue until December of this year. More than 4,200 rooms and suites are to be upgraded. Renovations also include the creation of 110 new suites through converting 350 standard rooms on the top three floors. The renovations will cost a total of $300M.
5. Fisher Brothers recently secured funding for the Area15expansion. The project, located on Rancho Drive near Desert Inn Road, is being funded by a $108M investment from North Bridge and a $53M investment from Acore Capital. In total, the project costs $161M.
Completions
6. The Westgate Vegas Loop stationofficially opened. The station, developed by Elon Musk’s Boring Company, lies above ground on the northwest side of Westgate near the valet and self-parking garage. The new station connects Westgate to the Las Vegas Convention Center. The Westgate station is the second station outside of the convention center.
7. The Skate Yard in Mesquite opened on Jan. 17. The skate park is the first of its kind in the Virgin Valley. The $2.8M project was 70% paid for by a grant from the Community Development Block Program. Trade West Construction was the contractor.
