The Dayton Historic Society outlined its plans to reconstruct the historic Dayton Depot building that burned down in June 2020.
The Historic Society has secured more than $1.8M in funding for the historically accurate rebuild. Other upgrades, such as restrooms and fire suppression, are dependent on future funding.
The proposal to restore the depot received several support letters from residents. The letters indicated the Historical Society has brought in $742.5K for the restoration of the site, as well as another $538K that was lost in the first. Furthermore, the society spent an additional $90K of its own funding and $418K in “in-kind donations.”
The Lyon County Board of County Commissioners instructed staff to move forward with rebuilding the historical property.
