The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority announced it is set to receive a $20M grant from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act’s Airport Terminal Program.

The IIJA is a $5B federal program that was created under the Biden administration. The Federal Aviation Administration is distributing the funding, which is expected to help fund the $650M Concourse Development Project.

The new concourses are part of the MoreRNO improvement plan. NVBEX has extensively covered the MoreRNO project. To view our previous coverage, click here.

The airport broke ground on the New Gen A&B concourse project earlier this year. The New Gen A&B portion is estimated to cost $428M and is the metaphorical meat and potatoes of the Concourse Development Project. New Gen A&B is scheduled for completion in July 2029.

The Concourse Development Project consists of replacing the two existing concourses and two enabling projects. The first enabling project is the $9M South Remain Overnight, while the second is the $69.5M Central Utility Plant.

The IIJA has provided the airport with three separate grants. The two other grants were for the Central Utility Plant. The first provided $7M in funding for the utility plant, while the second provided an additional $3M.

The act was signed into law in 2021 and is responsible for the allocation of $1B each year from 2022 to 2026 for an array of projects throughout the nation.
