Boulder City Airport to Build Air Traffic Control Tower with $10M FAA Grant

The Federal Aviation Administration is providing the Boulder City Municipal Airport with $10M to fund a substantial portion of a new air traffic control tower.

AJT Engineering Inc. is designing the air traffic control tower. Q&D Construction LLC was selected as the Construction Manager at Risk in January. Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. is serving as a consultant.

The tower is currently in the design phase, and the current timeline suggests it will be operational by summer 2028. The tower is intended to improve situational awareness and coordination.

The funding comes from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The Boulder City Municipal Airport is the third busiest airport in the state. According to Marissa Adou with the Boulder City Municipal Airport, construction costs are estimated at $20M.

The FAA was able to provide four separate projects with $10M, which is the maximum amount allowed.

Construction is expected to begin this fall.
